the process

Ginzing energy tea packaging in three flavors: watermelon, juicy pear, and red berry, each labeled as caffeine and sugar free, 12 fl oz (355 ml), with a tagline 'long lasting energy, zero crash.'

My original design consisted of illustrated ginseng flowers and roots, the forma typeface, and a dotted pattern. Although I liked the color scheme and use of different flowers, the roots felt droopy and not like something that would give you energy. Thus, I transitioned to a new design concept.

Label design for Ginzing energy tea, green apple flavor, 12 fl oz, caffeine and sugar free, with nutrition facts and giveaway QR code.

My next design consisted of more aesthetically pleasing colors and a larger simple flower in a 3D-like effect. I switched from roots coming out from the bottom to one swooping out of the “i” with a lotus flower emerging from it. However, the “Gin” stood out in a way that could misrepresent the brand (an alcoholic beverage?), and the root and flower still felt awkward.

Three cans of Ginzing energy tea in different flavors: Orange Dream, Juicy Watermelon, and Blue Raspberry, on a light green background. Cans are labeled with zero sugar and zero caffeine.

My next design consisted of something much more modern and simple. I used gradients rather than a pattern to fill up the space yet allow everything to feel less crowded. I made Ginzing one color and placed one lotus flower above the “i” to act as a tittle. While I loved this layout and design, the coloring was still a bit off. This then led me to my final design.
